The complete G66 version 1.5 ZIP file is the only thing you need to install the G66 MOD, all known maps and have it patched to version 1.5. This is an all in one package to make life easier!

Note: The Rev.D patch updates many of the FE MPI maps including several of the maps that are in the complete map pack version 4. So, please make sure to re-apply Rev.D if you add in the complete FE map pack version 4 after Rev.D.

2011-03-02: BZUniverse is down and the new community forums can be found at: http://bzforum.matesfamily.org. The community is finding their way to the new forums and things are starting to get going again.

20010-08-31:

BZ2 version 1.3 Public Beta 6 was just released! The major improvements of 1.3 public beta 6, compared to the last release (1.3public beta 5.1) are:
- Upgraded to latest GameSpy SDK. BZ2 now uses the GameSpy QR2 communication protocol, the GameSpy transport SDK, GameSpy NatNeg technology for easier hosting w/o having to open ports in many routers, GameSpy Voice communication for ingame voice communication.
- Tweaked network code for better performance with lots of players in game.
- Various other fixes and optimizations.

This is a must have upgrade! Please make sure to install this over a clean, fresh install from the CD. You can install from the CD into a new directory if you want to keep your old install. You may have to make a new short-cut by hand if you do a separate install. This can be installed over your existing version, but it doesn't always work so well that way.

2009-09-06: BZ2 version 1.3 Public Beta 5.1 was just released! The major improvements of 1.3 public beta 5.1, compared to the last release (tech alpha 5) are:

- Performance optimizations to DirectX 9 graphics, most noticeably in the terrain rendering. Satellite view should be far faster, especially on slower machines
- EMBM bumpmaps work once again. High res shadows are re-enabled, but still just as buggy as it's always been (since Battlezone II v1.0)
- Local fog should look better
- Various crash bugs fixed
- Max vertex count for models has been upped to 20,000 verts/model; old limit was 2730 verts/model. No stock assets have higher poly counts, but mods may take advantage of that.
- Fixes the problem of only being able to have 3 players in MPI.

If at all possible, it would be best to install this over a fresh CD install. You don't need to put any other patches on before this one. And, remember you can have multiple BZ2 installs to support different versions.

2009-05-03: BZ2 version 1.3 Tech Alpha 5 was just recently released! They completely rewrote the graphics engine to utilize Direct X 9.0c. And, this version fixes the lagout bug and several others that made 1.3pb4a rough.

Please give this new update a try. I have found it a great play. Note that this is an Alpha version patch because of the graphics rewrite. There are some graphics bugs visible with reflections and some terrain clipping, but otherwise it is very solid. I'm seeing some great responses from long-time players, including those that swore they would never upgrade.

Grab the BZ2 1.3 Public Beta 5: Tech Alpha 5 from the files list to the right.

2008-08-10: BZ2 version 1.3 public beta 4a (1.3pb4a) has just been released! This version works best when installed over a fresh install of BZ2. This is the full version patch that is the follow-on update to 1.3 beta 4 fixing several critical AVs and making the game very playable. You can install this version over top of 1.3pb4 or over top of a fresh BZ2 install. The preferred method is to do a fresh install of BZ2 and then apply this patch.

2008-06-12: BZ2 version 1.3 public beta 4 (1.3pb4) has just been released! This version works best when installed over a fresh install of BZ2. This is the latest patch and you should start playing with this version. There are tons of new features and bug fixes.

You can have several BZ2 installs. Just give it a different name when doing the install. I personally, have one clean install (c:\program files\bz2 base) that I just copy and rename whenever I need a copy to experiement with.

FE is being updated to run with the 1.3pb4 patch. I'll grab a copy and post it up here when it becomes available.

G66 is also being updated to run with 1.3pb4 and I'll make it available here as well.

Visit www.bzuniverse.com for more information.

2005-12-27: Changed out the No-CD patch with the version from BZScrap that is for all versions.

2005-12-18: Added the No-CD patch and Stack Over-Flow (SOF) fix for version 1.2. And fixed the link for the complete FE map pack version 4. By now I'm sure there are more FE maps out there that could be added to the complete FE map pack.

Also, updated the complete G66 v1.5 installer to version "e" to include some new maps I found floating around. Let me know if you know of any other G66 v1.5 maps that aren't in this build. I'd love to have more maps to play on!

Added the Full FE Installer that gets you up to Rev.C in one package. Added the fix for the full FE installer (with Rev.C).

Removed the individual installer parts for FE now that we have the full FE installer.

To do a fresh install of FE use the "Full FE Installer" to get everything in one package patched up to Rev.C. Apply the fix for the full FE installer. Add in the complete FE map pack version 4 before applying the Rev.D patch. And, then add any other FE maps you like.

2005-10-23: Put out the final release of Rev.D for FE MPI today. This is the last build and includes several updated MPI maps from VnB Aegeis and some minor tweaks. Read the instructions BEFORE installing to save your self some grief!!!!!

Note: I found some FE MPI maps floating around that had some variation of the FE MPI DLL in them. Please don't do that as you will break FE for everyone. Clean up your maps so they don't have the DLL and redistribute them. If you have installed one of these maps, then just install the final Rev.D overtop and it will clean things up for you.

2005-05-02: Put out a test Rev.D build for FE MPI. This should be one of the last builds. Visit bzuniverse.com forums for links and info.

2005-02-26: Updated and renamed the Complete G66 version 1.5 ZIP file to version "d". I added several maps from RIP Splinter.

2004-11-18: Updated and renamed the Complete G66 version 1.5 ZIP file. I added in the BETA Team G66 Map Pack One. I consolidated the BETA Team assets into one sub-folder to cut down on the amount of duplicate files. However, the individual download to the right is the unaltered file from Major Tom.

2004-11-18: Added several new files to the list. Including detailed instructions on how to repair FE when it goes south.

2004-06-06: Put up an new FE RevC-MPI beta build. This build should resolve the last outstanding issue with the DLL. See the communit forums for more information on the new build and where we are going. http://www.bzuniverse.com/forum

2004-06-05: Natty has recently put out public builds of G66 version 2 beta. This beta only runs on the 1.3 beta and is really taking shape. Check out the community forums for info and for links.

2003-12-26: Updated and renamed the Complete G66 version 1.5 ZIP file. I added in the {LOC}StormFront's G66 MPI Map Pack.

2003-10-19: Updated and renamed the Complete G66 version 1.5 ZIP file. I added in the {420}G66 MPI Map Pack 2.

2003-10-19: If you don't know, the community forums moved a while back to http://www.bzuniverse.com/forum. Also, you will need to have the 1.2 patch applied if you wish to use any of the files here or any other MODs out there.

2003-01-06: Added the "Complete FE Map Pack Version 4" to the downloads. This ZIP file contains every FE map pack I know of todate. Please send me (scott@valler.com) links to any map packs I missed, or new ones as they come out. Here is a list of all map packs that are in this package:

8. cpinsomniax.exe ({IX}Insomniax)

2002-06-02: Added several new files to the downloads including some new FE MPI maps paks. I'll be redoing this site this summer :)

2002-03-25: Made minor correction to command line options file. I'm also working on a modified MPI DLL that will allow for a basic type of objectives MPI. It incorporates the scav cleaning code, the sniped ship update from Natty and BS-er, and hopefully a few more minor fixes.

2002-03-15: Added the {420}G66 MPI Map Pak to the downloads. It was already in the complete version. I'm not sure who the author is.

2002-03-13 [update]: I just added Square Eye's new maps to the complete ZIP!

What is BZ2
BZ2 (Battlezone II) is an incredible mix of first person shooter, real-time strategy, and cooperative team play. The original release was hurried and bug ridden resulting in terrible reviews. Subsequent patches have transformed the PC game into one of the best games you will ever experience. There is a very active player community with hundreds of player created maps, units, buildings, weapons, scenarios, and numerous other modifications. The game can be custom programmed to create completely new ways to play. Several good examples are the G66 and FE mods. One creates a very different game environment and the other creates a new level of difficulty and mayhem.

Several of the Pandemic programmers are still actively maintaining and bug squashing on their own time. This is a one of a kind game that really hooks you because you can play against the computer with team mates or against other humans with team mates.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the files I have here or how to use the many mods out there.
